Baby Bunny Baby Quilt

After many hours of being ‘in a mood’ it was time to calm down and be a bit creative. For reasons I won’t begin to try to understand I’m stuck in a ‘pink baby’ blanket phase. For that I have a new baby quilt to share with you.

The finished size is 41″ x 41″
At this time I have it as an Electric Quilt 6 Project.
If you would like this Baby Bunny Quilt, the Applique Bunny Block and the Quilt Stencils that I’ve added to it sent me a Contact Message or leave a comment.
I’ll email it to you as soon as I log back in to check my E-mail messages.I will add this to the list of quilts to put into PDF files for everyone.

Quilt Projects for EQ6

Once again, I have been very quiet as far as posting to this blog. I have been busy, and will post pictures of some of my finished projects and their stories soon. For now I wish to share two quilts created in Electric Quilt 6.

In time I hope to have these in PDF format for those who do not have EQ6. First I need to install the software I used to create and edit PDF files. Until then, feel free to download the files, and if you know someone who has EQ6 maybe they will print them up for you.

blackNwhite

News Paper Quilt (what’s black & white & red all over?)

IceCreamNFlowers

Neapolitan Quilt (the pink/brown/white reminds me of ice cream)

Here is the link to download the EQ6 Project File: DivShare File - Neopolitain_export.PJ6

Here is the fabric yardages:
Neopolitan - Brown Background=3 1/4 yds, White Print=3/4 yd, Green (leaves)=1/2 yd, Orange Print=1/8 yd, Pink/Brown Print=7/8 yd, Border Print=1 yd (assuming borders are pieced), Yellow Print=3/8 yd, Green (stems)=1/8 yd.

News Paper Quilt - White=2 5/8 yd, Red=1 1/8 yd (assuming borders are pieced), Black=2 5/8 yd.

After downloading follow the instructions in your EQ6 manual. The directions for ‘Opening a Project Sent by E-mail’ on page 113 of the user manual should work fine. If not let me know - I may have messed something up.

New York Nights Quilt Pattern

Well, I didn’t get very far in the trimming of the embroidered blocks for the Flowers Quilt. I had gone to the kitchen for another cup of tea, and when I got back to my computer Kyle was playing with the blocks in EQ6! After showing him how to add blocks, rotate them and pick fabrics he had a pretty cool start. When he got bored I moved in, and not being able to resist playing with what he started I ended with the picture you see.

I really like this one too. Maybe someday I’ll sew it up.

The Flowers Quilt Pattern is Ready!

Well, it’s ready, Finally! I am going to start putting this quilt together as soon as I finish this post. The flowers are aready embroidered, so trimming those blocks is first on on the ‘to do’ list.

Edit: There is an error in the Flower Quilt Pattern! I just discovered it - please do not use those directions!! I will repost the correct version ASAP.

A Project from Stash Only

Yesterday I decided it was time to do something I liked to do. So, a sewing project of some sort. I dug through the stash and found some green print fabric that I had always liked. Not much of it left, but lets see what I can do with it. I have enough for 10 large blocks, but will only be sewing out 8. Gotta leave some left over in case I screw up later.

Second: Flowers. It’s Spring after all. Again, into the stash of embroidery designs already purchased. This project is going to be Stash Only. Don’t buy a thing. So, the Long Stemmed Wild Flowers from Emblibrary.com. The first one sewed out so well that I just kept going. Turned the TV on mute, plugged the Zune into my ears and listened to a shuffle of everything from Kiss to George Jones to Papa Roach.

Here’s the beginning (sorry, the scans suck)-

Then, fire up EQ6 and begin with a simple layout, bring in the scanned images, play around, scan some more fabrics, redo the layout, recolor, play, play, play until I end up with something like the top image.

Here are the scans of the fabrics I’ve used for blocks & borders-

Hand-dyed Purple / Flower Print / Hand-dyed Yellow to Green

I’m not sure if I like it yet, and maybe I’m not finished scanning fabrics and bringing them into the software to see what it will look like. All I do know is that it’s fun to do it ‘computerized’! A lot less ripping out seams.

When I’m done with the layout and design I’ll be sure to post the finished directions for anyone to download and use for themselves.
